Coursera Plus for students: add skills next to the degree without a second $399 bill
How students use Coursera Plus for Python, cloud, academic writing, public health, and Google certificates — on a personal Coursera account, for $49 instead of $399.
What students actually use Plus for
The useful pattern is not “replace the degree.” It is filling gaps the programme does not cover: Python next to a social-science degree, cloud next to computer science, academic writing, public health methods, or a Google IT / Data Analytics certificate you can show in internships. Stanford, Michigan, Imperial, Johns Hopkins, and others already publish those courses on Coursera. Plus is the subscription that unlocks graded work and certificates on your login.
Keep the Coursera account in your name
Certificates must be issued to you. That means your coursera.org account, your name, your verify link. Coursera Access prepares 12 months of Plus on that account. We do not sell a shared classroom login. You create a Coursera Access account so payment, the 4-hour preparation, and messages stay in one dashboard. Learning never moves to our site.
A realistic year beside lectures
One Professional Certificate or two shorter specializations is enough for a busy term. Put the Coursera link on your CV when a course is finished, not when you enrolled. $49 is the Coursera Access price for the year of Plus; $399 is Coursera’s published annual comparison price.
